Final pieces

300 word essay.
After a long exploration of the subject ‘Social Anxiety’, I have finally reached the end of my research. I wanted to end this project with two posters to sum up the emotions of being in public with social anxiety. I felt as though one poster was not enough, this is because it only told one story which does not sum up the experience of having social anxiety.
I created posters since I think the best way to capture someone’s attention is through imagery in a public place. I would place these at a concert venue; it can lead people out of their comfort zones if they were getting out into society to help overcome their struggles. Aiming for the audience to be of people with social anxiety, I wanted the posters to make them feel understood. Most people with this disorder feel embarrassed that they feel this way, helping them feel a bit more understood could push someone in the right direction of trying to get help for this disorder or even attempt to conquer their social anxiety.
I knew I wanted text on the posters that was in the mind of a person who suffers with social anxiety. With the help of two quotes from ‘The Perk of Being a Wallflower’ but making it accurate to the scenarios of the drawings. I thought this worked well for both posters. The only problem with the typography, is on the first poster It does not read well. It is supposed to say, ‘I didn’t think anyone noticed me’, but it reads like ‘I didn’t think noticed anyone me’. To improve this, I would arrange the text in an order which is more effective. I wanted to keep the drawings looking clean, I used fine lines which ended up effective.
Happy with how this project ended, I have learnt a lot about a disorder I had only experienced and it has put me out of my comfort zone. I will carry on using methods from my research as this has been a great experience.
